Longing for Summer

I'm one of those people who loves to ask simple questions to find things out about people.

What's your favourite flavour crisps?
Who's your favourite James Bond? (Roger Moore should always be the answer)
What's your favourite colour?
What's your least favourite colour?
Top 5 farm animals?
What's your favourite season?

For me, if anyone had ever asked me what my favourite season was my answer was never straightforward. I always thought it was Spring and Autumn. Spring for the beautiful flowers, Autumn for the change in colour of the leaves on trees. Winter would be a close second (with Spring and Autumn both being first that makes Winter second right, or third? I'll overthink this now).

I always loved the cosiness of Winter. Fairy lights on, candles lit, dark evenings, listening to rain against the window, snuggled under thick blankets watching tv or reading a book.
Gezellig, as the Dutch would call it.
Summer....least favourite.

Until now.
I am longing for the summer. Despite the fact it can be TOO hot, I would much rather be unable to sleep because I am too hot than to be going to bed wearing layers, covered in layers of sheets and quilts, dreading waking up to it being cold and icy.
It's easier to wake up in the morning, it's easier to eat healthy, it's easier to find something to wear....summer dress on, no needing to, again, layer yourself up and get to the point you look like the Michelin man and feeling so confined you can hardly move. You don't have to worry about whether or not you need a coat, gloves, scarf and hat if you go for a day out. And even then, will you need to change day out plans because it's raining!
It's so much easier to feel motivated to go out in the Summer. There are so many more things to do, if it's too hot....BEACH! Or woodland for the shade brought by the trees.
In the Winter....there are not many alternatives. Leaving some days feeling wasted.
One of the highest reasons, I want to put my washing out on the line. I want to have my morning routine of sticking the kettle on and having my cat meow at my feet reminding me to walk behind him as he guides me to the seating area so I can start my day with a coffee outside rather than straight at my desk.

I don't mind that we sometimes end up going to bed too late in the Summer because it's so light outside the we lose track of time.

I hate wishing time away.
I like counting down to events, but to countdown to warmer weather feels a bit like wishing time away instead.
